Link: There’s nothing like an RPG over vacation

During my vacation, I chose to immerse myself in People of Note, a music-focused RPG which proved to be the perfect relaxing game. The decision came after considering other games like Super Meat Boy 3D and Slay the Spire II.

In People of Note, you play as Cadence, an aspiring pop singer on a quest that escalates to world-altering stakes. The game intricately weaves music into its narrative and mechanics, featuring musical numbers and genre-themed areas.

Battles in the game are turn-based with a musical twist, requiring rhythmic timing to maximize attacks and healing. A musical staff display adds a strategic layer to planning your moves during combat.

Character customization is deep, allowing for specialized abilities through "songstones" and "remix stones", similar to the Materia system in Final Fantasy VII. This customization shines during boss battles which are challenging yet fair.

While some aspects like simple puzzles and a typical RPG story feel underwhelming, the game's music-driven content and combat kept me engaged. I completed the game in about 20 hours, finding it a satisfying way to unwind during my break.

People of Note is now available on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5, making it accessible for a wide range of gamers looking for a unique RPG experience. #
