Link: The head of ChatGPT won’t rule out adding ads

OpenAI is exploring various revenue streams, including potentially introducing ads to ChatGPT. Nick Turley, ChatGPT head, emphasized the need for careful integration, stating ads must be "thoughtful and tasteful."

Despite considering ads, OpenAI champions its subscription model which is rapidly growing and lucrative. Bloomberg noted the company's revenue projection of $12.7 billion this year from subscriptions alone.

The service recently hit 700 million users, with 20 million paying subscribers.

Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, has expressed reservations about incorporating ads into ChatGPT, describing the blend of ads and AI as unsettling. Yet, he remains open to the idea if necessary.

Another revenue plan involves earning through "Commerce in ChatGPT," a scheme to take a cut from product purchases recommended by ChatGPT. Turley stressed the importance of maintaining non-biased recommendations in this model.

This approach aligns with ensuring that recommendations are always independent and trustworthy, preserving the core integrity of ChatGPT's responses. #
