Link: Perplexity just launched an AI web browser

Perplexity has launched a new web browser named Comet, featuring integrated AI search tools and an assistant. This innovation aims to streamline user interactions into continuous, seamless experiences, according to CEO Aravind Srinivas.

Initially, Comet is exclusive to subscribers of the $200 monthly Perplexity Max plan and will later be available through invite-only.

Comet uses Perplexity's search engine to deliver AI-driven responses and enables users to perform tasks like online purchases and booking hotels.

By introducing Comet and partnering with Motorola to feature its assistant on the Razr phones, Perplexity is positioning itself as a competitor to Google's search dominance.

The browser, built on the Chromium project, might see more expansive integration, with Srinivas hinting at the potential purchase of Chrome if Google is mandated to sell.

Currently, Comet supports Windows and Mac, allowing easy importation of browser settings, extensions, and bookmarks. #
