Link: Windows 11 now has better Bluetooth quality for game chat and voice calls
Microsoft's introduction of LE Audio for Windows 11 aims to solve the muffled audio issue experienced on Bluetooth headsets. LE Audio utilizes a new compression algorithm developed on the Bluetooth Low Energy radio spec, promising drastically improved audio for gaming and calls.
According to Mike Ajax from Microsoft, LE Audio ensures that game audio remains in super wideband stereo quality during voice chats on Windows 11 PCs, avoiding the typical quality drop with Bluetooth Classic.
LE Audio operates at a 32kHz sample rate, enhancing voice apps like Teams or Discord, and replaces older Bluetooth profiles which offered limited sample rates and audio quality.
The new feature also boosts call quality in apps like Microsoft Teams by supporting super wideband stereo audio, enabling Spatial Audio which was previously unavailable for Bluetooth headsets.
Users will need a Windows 11 PC and a Bluetooth headset that both support LE Audio, and have the latest drivers and updates installed.
Microsoft anticipates that by late 2025, most new mobile PCs will have built-in support for LE Audio, expanding its accessibility and user benefits. #
