Link: This new delivery robot will bring the entire grocery store to you

Los Angeles-based Robomart has launched a large autonomous delivery robot aimed at economically viable on-demand services. The RM5 vehicle, resembling a shuttle bus, can carry up to 500 lbs and has 10 lockers for different orders.

Robomart's approach potentially reduces fulfillment costs by 70 percent compared to traditional human couriers.

Moreover, it promises a flat delivery rate of $3 per order without any additional fees.

The company's RM5 vehicle stands out in the current market by being able to transport significantly more per trip than smaller robots or drones.

It's designed for slow speeds with a maximum of 25 mph and a range of 112 miles.

Customers can place orders via an app, which directs the RM5 to pick up from retailers and then proceed to multiple deliveries.

Upon arrival, customers unlock their designated locker through the app to retrieve their orders.

Robomart aims to expand by partnering with local businesses, starting with a launch in Austin, Texas.

The company has been testing the service using modified vehicles and has secured partnerships and funding for further development.
