Link: The Xbox app for Windows on Arm will soon let you download games
Microsoft is enhancing its Xbox app for Windows on Arm by enabling downloads of ARM64 compatible games. This update, currently available for Windows Insiders, allows local installation of games, a shift from the previous limitation to cloud gaming only.
The update will make certain PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate games playable for the first time on ARM-based devices, such as the Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro 12. Previously, users could only access games through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Microsoft's teams are collaboratively ensuring that the Xbox app update supports a broad range of games from the Game Pass catalog. They are also focused on developing new features to enhance gaming on ARM-based Windows 11 PCs.
The ARM64 version of the Xbox app was initially released in 2022, but it lacked a significant number of natively compatible games. Players can now verify game compatibility via the Windows on Arm ready site.
