Link: The Chromatic Game Boy is getting Tetris’ best multiplayer mode

ModRetro has introduced a new multiplayer Battle Mode to its modernized Chromatic Game Boy version of Tetris. This update is a nod to the classic version and addresses previous user requests for enhanced multiplayer interactions.

The Battle Mode allows players to affect each other’s game by adding “garbage lines” to their opponent's Tetris stack, increasing the competitive aspect. This feature was originally popular in the version of Tetris for the classic Nintendo Game Boy.

Existing Chromatic owners can easily upgrade their Tetris cartridges to include this new mode via the device’s Cart Clinic feature. The upgrade requires the device to be connected to a PC or Mac.

Notably, the upgraded Tetris cartridge can also be used with other compatible devices, such as the original Game Boy Color. This ensures that the new Battle Mode can be enjoyed across different platforms.

The upgrade is available for free to all Chromatic owners from today. By enhancing the Tetris game cartridge directly, ModRetro makes it accessible to a wider range of gamers.
