Link: Tesla claims driver ‘manually overrode self-driving’ in deadly Texas crash
Tesla disputes claims that its Full Self-Driving system was to blame for a fatal crash in Texas. Instead, they assert that the driver, manually accelerating to full throttle, caused the accident.
The incident took place in Katy, Texas, where a Model 3 collided with a house at 73 mph, resulting in a fatality.
Tesla's Ashok Elluswamy stated on X that the driver overrode the automated system by pressing the accelerator "all the way to 100%."
Following the crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has started investigating the effectiveness of Tesla's self-driving technology.
Despite lacking a public relations department, Tesla officials have openly criticized the media's portrayal of the crash and its implications on Tesla's technology.
Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, also commented, emphasizing that the Full Self-Driving system operates at low speeds in residential areas, contrary to the high-speed nature of the crash. #
