Link: Spotify says it won’t recommend music from ‘AI Personas’

Spotify will soon add an "AI Persona" badge to profiles of artists that are AI-generated and exclude their music from user recommendations. This initiative, starting in mid-September, is in response to user feedback.

The streaming service will use both human review and AI tools to identify AI personas, focusing first on popular profiles with significant audience reach. If an artist is determined to be AI-generated, they will be labeled with a "Likely AI Persona" badge.

Spotify's decision aims to foster transparency by allowing users to easily identify AI-generated content, enhancing user choice and experience. AI-generated music will not appear in editorial or personalized recommendations, aligning with listener preferences for authentic human-created music.

However, this labeling process only addresses the identity of the artist, not the way the music is produced. While Deezer identifies AI-generated music, Spotify currently does not, but it allows artists to disclose AI involvement voluntarily.

The change also includes options for artists to appeal the AI labels and for listeners to flag potential AI-generated content. Spotify continues to adapt its offerings to ensure clarity and satisfaction for its users.
