Link: Should you stare into Sam Altman’s orb before your next date?

The World ID app, built by OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman's company, now allows Tinder users to get verified through a unique method involving facial scanning orbs.

This verification process involves users visiting a physical orb which scans and encrypts pictures of their face and eyes, storing the data on the individual's phone for privacy.

Once verified, users can link their World ID to several platforms, not just Tinder, but also Zoom and Docusign, enhancing their trustworthiness across these major services.

Tinder is incentivizing users to use this orb verification by offering five free profile boosts, a benefit not extended to those who choose traditional photo or ID verification methods.

Currently, the orb verification service is available in select markets, including Japan and the USA, with plans for further expansion.

World has also launched a separate World ID app dedicated to managing these verifications, distinct from their previously announced super app.
