Link: Remarkable’s new digital notepad is smaller than a paperback
Remarkable has launched the Paper Pro Move, a compact version of last year's larger digital notebook. This new device features a 7.3-inch color E Ink screen and is designed for enhanced portability resembling the size of a paperback book.
The Paper Pro Move retails at $449 and includes a Marker stylus; a bundle with an upgraded stylus called Marker Plus costs $499. Despite its smaller size, the Paper Pro Move remains relatively high-priced compared to the larger model, which continues to sell for $629.
In terms of technical specifications, the Paper Pro Move is lighter and smaller than an iPad Mini, but comes with a slower processor and smaller battery capacity. This format aims to last up to two weeks on a single charge.
Unlike typical color e-readers, the Paper Pro Move utilizes advanced E Ink technology for better color accuracy but slower refresh rates. It primarily serves as a note-taking device, offering a variety of templates and document support limited to PDFs and ePub files.
Remarkable plans to introduce new features to enhance usability like customizable toolbars and a search function for handwritten notes. However, features such as editing in mobile apps and sharing to collaboration platforms are part of a $2.99/month subscription service following a 100-day free trial.
This product updates and pricing strategies reflect Remarkable's continuing effort to define niche markets within the tech landscape, focusing on those who prefer digital devices that mimic the feel of traditional paper. #
