Link: OpenAI releases a cheaper ChatGPT subscription
OpenAI has launched a new subscription tier called ChatGPT Go, now available globally including the US. Initially released in India and 170 other countries, it has been widely adopted for various everyday applications.
ChatGPT Go, priced at $8 per month, offers users enhanced features compared to the free tier, including additional messages, file uploads, and image generation capabilities. This tier is designed for users needing increased access to OpenAI's latest AI model, GPT-5.2 Instant.
While the free tier limits users to 10 messages every five hours, the Go tier promises a 10x increase in messages, files, and images. Plus subscribers currently receive 160 messages within three hours.
Details regarding the exact number of file uploads and images for Go subscribers were not disclosed. Free users receive limited file uploads and image generations, whereas Plus users have unspecified "check-mark" limits.
The Go tier also provides an extended memory and context window over the free tier; however, specific figures are still undisclosed. In comparison, the context window for free and Plus tiers is significantly different for non-reasoning requests and reasoning tasks.
OpenAI plans to introduce ads within the Go tier in the US, while maintaining an ad-free experience for Plus and more expensive subscription tiers. #
