Link: Microsoft hosts emergency press conference after protesters ‘storm a building’
Microsoft President Brad Smith hosted an unexpected press conference following a sit-in protest in his office by the No Azure for Apartheid group.
The group, which interrupted several of Microsoft’s events this year, demands that the company end its contracts with the Israeli government and military.
Smith reassured that Microsoft adheres to human rights principles and has initiated an investigation following allegations of Azure being used for surveillance.
He emphasized ongoing efforts to address the issues raised, stating, "We are working every day to get to the bottom of what’s going on, and we will."
During today's protest at Microsoft’s headquarters, seven individuals, including two employees, occupied Smith's office and were later removed by police.
Smith condemned the protesters' actions, highlighting the illegitimacy of their methods, such as planting listening devices in his office. #
