Link: Microsoft 365 Personal is now free for US college students for a year

Microsoft is providing free Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions to all US college students until October 31st. This offer includes access to Office apps and the Copilot AI assistant for one year.

After the initial free year, students can continue their subscription at a 50 percent discount. Normally, Microsoft 365 Personal costs $99.99 annually or $9.99 monthly, including 1TB of OneDrive storage.

Most students typically have access to educational versions of software like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Microsoft's promotion, however, applies to students' personal Microsoft accounts.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the free subscription offer during a meeting with the White House’s AI Education Task Force. The initiative is part of efforts to meet the Presidential AI Challenge and AI Education Executive Order.

In addition to the subscription offer, Microsoft is investing $1.25 million in educator grants and providing free LinkedIn AI courses for job seekers, students, and teachers. They are also expanding access to AI tools in educational institutions.
