Link: I tried ‘Bricking’ my phone to fix my brain

"We need to talk," are words you never want to hear from your spouse. **My attention span needed serious rescuing.**

Instead of the TV, my eyes were glued to my phone, totally missing my spouse’s repeated questions. Realizing the problem, they suggested an app called Brick to manage screen time more strictly.

Brick not only blocks distracting apps but comes with a physical key to lock and unlock app usage. Lose this key, and you face a factory reset unless you use one of your five emergency codes.

The harsh realization hit when I kept unlocking my phone, showing just how broken my focus was. My spouse had lost their key, explaining their recent social media absence.

Despite numerous modes for different activities, resisting the need to know everything was hard. **I did find slight improvement by limiting Brick's use to TV time, helping me enjoy moments without distractions.**

This wasn't a perfect fix, but it was a small, significant win towards regaining my attention span. I'm adjusting slowly, rediscovering my love for uninterrupted reading and more engaging TV viewing. #
