Link: Google’s Gemini AI will get more personalized by remembering details automatically

Google's AI chatbot Gemini is being updated to automatically "remember" user conversations and preferences to enhance personalization. This feature, set to default, can be turned off in settings.

Last year's update introduced an option allowing users to ask Gemini to "remember" details which it will now recall without prompts. Gemini could suggest related content based on previous interactions, enhancing user experience.

Concerns about AI remembering details have led to discussions about user safety and mental health. For instance, instances of "delusional" chats increased with similar features in other AI technologies.

Google states that improving safeguards continuously is a priority, with the focus on creating a personal AI assistant. Users have control over these features, ensuring comfort with their personalized experience.

In addition to memory features, new privacy options are rolling out, like "temporary chats" that ignore past conversations for privacy and do not influence future interactions.

Temporary chats are stored only for 72 hours, useful for sensitive inquiries without affecting later AI behavior. Full rollout will commence in select regions with plans for wider availability. #
