Link: Google’s AI Mode update lets you open links without leaving the page
Google has enhanced AI Mode in Chrome, introducing a feature for opening links next to your chat window. This layout allows simultaneous browsing and AI interaction, streamlining the search process.
AI Mode serves as a chatbot-like function within Google's search engine, developed to assist users more interactively. Over the past year, it has been augmented with capabilities such as outfit and decor visualization, travel planning, and restaurant booking assistance.
Additionally, the update enables users to select tabs directly within AI Mode to draw content from, eliminating the need to paste links. This is accessible via a "plus" button that displays recent tabs for easy content selection.
In response to concerns about AI's impact on web traffic, especially for news publishers, Google has started featuring source links more prominently. This aims to balance the convenience of in-browser AI searches with the needs of content creators.
Users can now also incorporate images or files into their searches to enrich the inquiry context. These functionalities make AI Mode more versatile in handling diverse user queries.
The improvements to AI Mode are already available to users in the US, with plans to expand globally soon. This expansion anticipates bringing these advanced search capabilities to a wider audience. #
