Link: Google is adding a new way to personalize the news you see
Google has launched a "preferred sources" feature, allowing users to customize their news feed in the top stories section of Search. This section activates when you search for current events, showcasing articles from various sources.
By marking certain news outlets as favorites, articles from these sources will be prominently displayed. Google may also list them separately in a "from your sources" segment.
The feature, initially tested in June, is now available to users in the US and India. To customize your news sources, click the icon next to the "top stories" label during a search.
There is no limit to the number of sources you can add, and settings from the testing phase will be automatically saved for existing users. This enhances user control over the news they see firsthand.
Despite focusing on AI, Google continues to enhance Search with features unrelated to AI technology. Recent updates address concerns about AI impacting web traffic by maintaining stable click volumes and boosting visibility for diverse content formats.
Users interested in specific outlets, such as The Verge, can directly add them to their list via provided links. Additional links allow users to follow particular topics or authors, integrating their choices into a personalized feed and email updates. #
