Link: Deezer says AI song uploads have nearly overtaken human music

Deezer reports that 44 percent of its daily music uploads are now AI-generated, with approximately 75,000 AI songs submitted each day. However, these tracks account for only 1 to 3 percent of total streams.

The platform has started removing AI-generated music from its recommendation algorithms and has ceased storing high-resolution versions of these tracks. Deezer is setting what it describes as an "industry standard" by also demonetizing AI-generated songs.

Music streaming services are adopting varied approaches toward the rising wave of AI-created music. While Spotify and Apple Music implement new policies and labeling requirements, platforms like Bandcamp have opted to ban AI music entirely.

Other platforms like Qobuz are focusing on automatic detection and labeling of AI-generated tracks. Deezer has enhanced its own detection capabilities with tools that can identify AI music from various creation platforms.

The surge in AI music submissions—from 10,000 to 75,000 daily since January 2025—highlights a growing trend. Deezer is also licensing its AI detection tool to other companies, looking to expand its role in managing AI music's impact.

"AI-generated music is more than a fringe element; it's a burgeoning part of the music ecosystem," stated Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier. Deezer hopes to lead the industry in promoting artist rights and transparency. #
