Link: Blue Origin’s Starlink rival TeraWave promises 6-terabit satellite internet
Jeff Bezos's space company, Blue Origin, is set to challenge competitors with its new TeraWave network, aiming for an enterprise-focused customer base.
The network promises a significant bandwidth of up to 6Tb and will consist of over 5,408 satellites, primarily stationed in low-Earth orbit.
Unlike broader consumer-facing services like Starlink, TeraWave will not directly serve millions but will rather cater to around 100,000 enterprise, data center, and government entities requiring robust connectivity.
Operations and user connections to the TeraWave network are planned to commence in late 2027, focusing on high-capacity, bidirectional data transmission.
Competition in space-based internet services continues to heat up, with Amazon and Starlink also pushing to expand their offerings to include gigabit internet speeds for their enterprise customers.
