Link: Asus has the new world’s fastest OLED monitor at 720Hz, and it’s dripping with style

Asus has launched the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W at Gamescom 2025, which boasts a dual-mode panel featuring an unprecedented 720Hz refresh rate at 720p resolution, despite initial claims of a higher 1080p. Unfortunately, a mix-up in communications led Asus and LG Display to backtrack on the original 1080p claim, confirming the 720p resolution after corrections were issued.

This gaming monitor incorporates a 26.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD OLED screen with a maximum refresh rate of 540Hz, highlighting its advanced display capabilities. The tandem OLED panel technology promises enhanced HDR brightness and potentially longer lifespan.

Asus' monitor faces competition from Koorui and HKC, which have introduced 750Hz monitors at 1080p, but these utilize TN panels inferior in color and contrast quality to OLED. Despite this, the Asus monitor stands out with a vibrant design featuring silver and translucent plastic that appeals to enthusiasts.

Although pricing and release dates remain unannounced, the cutting-edge technology and unique design imply it will be a premium product. Asus also unveiled the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG, sharing the same tandem OLED tech but capped at 280Hz.

Both monitors feature Asus' "Neo Proximity Sensor" which aids in burn-in prevention by detecting user presence. Enhanced warranty and panel protection measures underscore the brand's commitment to durability.

Other manufacturers are likely to adopt the same 4th-gen WOLED tandem panel technology from LG Display, indicating potential future competition in this advanced monitor segment. #
