Link: Amazon snaps up Oprah Winfrey’s podcast
New episodes of The Oprah Podcast are set to release twice per week starting in July, expanding their presence across Prime Video, Amazon Music, Audible, and Fire TV.
The enhanced frequency comes as part of a larger deal with Amazon, which also includes broadcasting Oprah’s Book Club and Favorite Things.
While continuing on YouTube and other streaming services, The Oprah Podcast joins Amazon’s array of celebrity-driven shows such as New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, and Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.
This integration into Amazon is part of its strategy to prioritize creator-led shows through its Wondery brand, having restructured to separate narrative-driven content to Audible.
Additionally, Amazon has secured rights to all 25 seasons of The Oprah Winfrey Show, although plans for airing the classic episodes are still under review.
This move by Amazon parallels actions by Netflix, which is also venturing deeper into video podcasts in collaboration with platforms like Spotify and iHeartMedia. #
